While unpacking your new dartboard, you may stumble upon certain imperfections regarding certain 'tears' in the sisal layer or the sisal layer not connecting in all the same places.
Due to your dartboard being produced out of natural materials, these marks may always be noticed on any regular sisal dartboard.
It is good to note that these are not defects, but rather natural 'imperfections' caused by the raw material most dartboards are made of and is completely normal.
In case you have reason to believe something is wrong with your dartboard that should not be on there, you can contact our support team. Be advised that your dartboard is covered under a 1-year warranty from the moment you receive it in the mail.
Below, we have listed some tips & tricks in order to get the most out of your dartboard and increase its lifespan.
1. Rotate your dartboard once in a while.
Remove your number ring, rotate your dartboard 180 degrees and apply the number ring back on. This may sound quite trivial, but does in fact significantly prolong its lifespan over time.
The reason for this is that some areas that you are throwing on (especially when you're a seasoned darts player) may wear out faster than the rest of your dartboard. By rotating it once every few months, your dartboard will wear out much more consistently which in turn will increase its lifespan.
2. Check the general capacity of your dartboard.
Not all dartboards are created equally, always make sure to check the lifespan that is usually noted by the manufacturer in the user's manual/installation guide. Some dartboards are specifically produced for only 2 players, while other dartboards are made to be used by 8 or more. We generally advise customers against using a dartboard made for 2 players to be used by more than the recommended amount as stated by the manufacturer.
3. Keep your dartboard away from any type of liquid or moisture.
Liquid material and moisture (for instance water) may significantly weaken your dartboard's natural fibre components, causing it to rapidly damage at a fast pace. For this reason, we do not recommend using water or any detergents to clean your dartboard, but rather use a dry towel or a dry brush.
We also advise against using your dartboard outdoors where rain or fog can easily access it.
4. Use correct/recommended dart points.
Use darts with properly rounded points. Darts with extremely sharp tips will damage your dartboard's fibre components. Also make sure the sharpen your dart tips over time, as blunt tips may have the same effect. We recommend using dart tips that are not too sharp or too blunt but rather in the middle.
5. Make sure your dartboard is placed correctly.
The way you placed your dartboard will also determine its lifespan. Properly place your dartboard against a wall or other safe surface. Also, make sure that add-ons (like lightning systems and surrounds) are not too heavy to reduce the pressure on your dartboard. (we recommend add-on accessories that are offered on our site as we do not cover any damage caused by other stores).
6. Use your dartboard indoors only.
As mentioned in our tip 3, we do not recommend using your dartboard outside for an extended amount of time, as your dartboard may be damaged by too much exposure from heavy sunlight or moisture caused by fog, rain and snow. Dartboards are made from fibre materials that when exposed to these natural elements, may cause your dartboard to become brittle.
for this reason, we recommend using your dartboard indoors in a dry area at all times.
