Your New Dartboard – What Is Normal?

When you receive your dartboard, you may notice small imperfections, such as cracks in the sisal or fibers that do not align perfectly. This is completely normal.

Sisal is a natural material, which means small differences or gaps can occur.

Tips to Keep Your Dartboard in Good Condition Longer

1. Rotate the Dartboard Regularly

Remove the number ring and rotate the board occasionally.

This prevents certain segments (such as the 20) from wearing out faster than the rest of the board. By rotating the board, you distribute the wear and extend the lifespan of the board.

 

2. Pay Attention to How Many Players Are Playing

Check how many players the board can accommodate. This is usually stated on the packaging or in the manufacturer's manual.

Some boards are made for 1–2 players, while others are suitable for groups of 8 players or more.
Do not use a board intended for a few players intensively with a large group, as this shortens its lifespan.

 

3. Keep the Board Dry

Liquids can damage the sisal.

Therefore, do not use water or cleaning agents to clean the board.
If you want to remove dust, use a dry cloth or a soft brush.

 

4. Use Darts with Proper Points

Use darts with normally rounded steel points.

  • Too sharp points can damage the board

  • Too blunt points can break the fibers

  • Points with extra grip can pull sisal fibers out of the dartboard when removed

Well-maintained dart points help the board stay in good condition longer.

 

5. Mount the Dartboard Correctly

Hang the dartboard securely on a stable wall.

Make sure that:

  • The board is firmly attached

  • If you use a dart stand, do not add too many heavy accessories. The mounting screw of your dartboard is only designed to support the weight of the dartboard itself.

Proper mounting prevents unnecessary pressure and damage.

 

6. Use the Dartboard Indoors

Dartboards are made from natural fibers and do not tolerate moisture or direct sunlight well.

Therefore, always use your dartboard indoors.
This prevents the material from drying out, becoming brittle, or discoloring.
