Coatings on darts and dart points
A coating is a thin layer (or multiple layers) of paint or finish applied to a product.
In dart products, coatings are applied to:
Dart barrels (for example, for colour accents or extra grip)
Dart points (for example, a coloured finish)
The coatings applied to darts and dart points are very thin. This is deliberately done so that the weight and balance of the dart are not affected.
Wear of coatings
Coatings can wear out over time through normal use. This is a normal phenomenon and cannot be completely prevented. How quickly a coating wears depends mainly on how often and how intensively the darts are used.
Some examples:
Dart barrels: when darts are thrown close together and collide with each other (so-called grouping), the coating can be damaged or wear off.
Dart points: when the point regularly hits the metal wires (wires) of the dartboard, the coating on the point can gradually wear off.
The wear of a coating has no effect on the function or performance of the dart, but can cause a change in the appearance of the product over time.
